Delish* Sneak Peek Tamara | Langley Boudoir Photographer

Finally a chance to post a few sneak peeks for a most amazing session that took place last Saturday! Tamara wrote the very first article (October 2008) about my boudoir photography back when I first got started in 2008. I promised her that when she moved back to BC from California that I would be sure to shoot her session. Finally we got the chance to meet this weekend and had a great time together! The images are for her to share in a brand new magazine called Delish (a collaboration of three women; Tamara, Emma and Cynthia) which will arrive this Spring. Be sure to add yourselves to their mailing list! It is going to be great! Tamara will be writing an article on Boudoir Photography, and her experience behind the camera lens. And, she will be including a few interviews of some of my past clients and their experience with me. So, when that comes out I will be sure to share a link to it!
Tamara, also has Arthritis, and she has had it since she was six years old. She is 38 years old now. Married, with a son. He is now four months old (he was born early at 28 weeks!) I think Tamara looks amazing! Don’t you!?!
I don’t know if you know who Dr. Greene is? Well Tamara is also sharing her experience of living with pain of Arthritis as a guest blogger over there. We also took a couple of headshots for over there while she was here. To read her her posts, please click here.
She also has started another blog. You should check it out!
Tamara is a shining example to all of those living with any sort of condition! She doesn’t let Arthritis get in her way! She does so many amazing things, and she continues to inspire me that is for sure!

Saturday Six | Langley Portrait Photographer

[hello] Happy Saturday!
OK, so where did the week go? How did I miss Friday?! I missed my FRIDAY FIVE, so today I will do a Saturday Six!
- I got back into the Top Ten in #500in2010! I ran 35 miles last week, and I felt very happy with my result!
- I have been watching the Olympics A LOT. I even missed a run last night in order to watch Olympic Hockey! I am so impressed with all the GOLD fever we have!
- Sad to know the Olympics are over tomorrow. However, we have the memories!
- I had some really good runs this week, and on Wednesday we completed our hill training of six hills. Time to register for my 10 km goal race in a couple of weeks.
- My number two, aka Claire turned 9 and we celebrated and had a great chocolate cake!
- I survived two Pro D days in the rain with all six of the kids going stir crazy in the house! I am looking forward to Spring Break (and to reading report cards too!)
Enjoy the weekend! Tomorrow an 11 km run, and then a Mother/Daughters shoot with Arianne tomorrow afternoon. And, of course I will be parking myself in front of the TV to watch the closing ceremonies.

Happy Wednesday!

Finally, Shannon’s due date was getting closer! With several rainy weekends behind us, and finally gorgeous sun, the maternity session was FINALLY a go! Her husband Jon, Shannon (her belly) and I got to hang out on Valentines Day and take some maternity photos! She was in her 37th week, and officially full term! I also learned that the 14th of February one year ago, they got engaged. So, the most perfect day for some ‘family’ photos of the almost three of them! I had fun hanging out with you both.
P.S. Shannon has not had to wear or buy ANY maternity clothes! She still fits her normal clothing! I know I am jealous 
Enjoy the final weeks as your prepare for the most special delivery! I am so excited to meet her!

Wow! What a great week this has been! I can hardly believe it is still winter! The Vancouver area has been experiences Spring-like weather. Usually February around here is cold, wet and not so fun! This year! Amazing!
I am thankful for the sunshine, and the warmth of this winter sunshine!
I had the opportunity to shoot some fun images for a Maternity session (as seen above) more to come!
I had a fun ‘date night’ with my husband on Tuesday night. We drove into Richmond, took the Canada line right into downtown Vancouver. We got to experience the sights and sounds of the Olympic fever that has hit Vancouver! It was SO much fun, and a once-in-a-lifetime experience that is for sure! Thank you Mom and Dad for offering us the time, and the babysitting! xo
I have had some amazing runs, and this week I made it back into the top 12 in #500in2010. I am excited to go running tonight as well! Nothing like some extra motivation to get the body moving!
I am counting down to my own boudoir session, and shooting some boudoir for two other amazing photographers/friends in Chilliwack next Sunday! The countdown is on, and you know I will be blogging my experience behind the lens!

FLAUNT YOUR ROCK! | ENGAGEMENT CONTEST

Flaunt Your Rock – An Engagement Contest
LOVE is in the air! Did you recently get engaged and are beaming with pride over the shiny rock
on your finger? Want to flaunt it some more? In honor of all the love going around, I am holding
a contest for you engaged love birds to show off your new bling!
What do you get for flaunting that shiny new rock? The winner will receive a one hour
engagement session and 15 images on a DVD for you to enjoy forever.
The Details:
• Submit 1 photograph of your ring & 1 photograph of yourselves (please do not submit
images taken by another professional photographer).
• Encourage all of your friends and family to vote for you. The ring with the most votes wins!
• Engaged couples only.
• Open to both Vancouver and Edmonton couples (there will be a winner for each city!)
All submissions must be received by midnight March 5th, 2010.
Entries will be judged by a panel of photographers who will narrow down the selection to 3 rings.
The finalists will be posted on this blog and the winner will be chosen via a public voting
poll. Voting will occur between March 7-March 13, 2010. There are specific rules around voting
that will be clarified during the voting round of the contest.
Winners will be announced on March 15th, 2010. Winning session must take place between
March 22-May 1st. Winners must sign a release to allow Cathy Empey to display images on blog,
website, Facebook Business Page and any other print or web materials as deemed appropriate.

Friday Five

Hello Friday!
I cannot believe it is Friday already! Today is a HUGE day for Vancouver, BC Canada. The world is watching! The Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics opening ceremonies are tonight! The whole town is a buzz with excitement! It is hard not to catch the spirit! As I type this post, the flame is making its way to the final destination! I am so excited to see who will light the final cauldron tonight! The flame will burn for the duration of the games. Wow! Goosebumps!! And to my friends, and clients that have really wrapped their hearts into the winter games, good luck! I will be thinking of you all.
Anyways!
I had a great run on Sunday. I made it 10k without pain! I am so happy about that!
We had a family day on Monday and saw the flame run through our town! It was an amazing day!
I am excited about something in the works for my boudoir photography. Just waiting for details and confirmation!
Making some BIG changes with regards to my photography business, and I am really excited about it! More about that in the future! And tomorrow I am off to shoot a different photography project than I am used to, but it is going to be exciting!
Today, my son has starts ‘phase one’ of orthodontics. I am excited and happy for him!
OK, that is more like six things but it was a great week! I wish you all a great weekend!

Meet my friend Wendy! | Headshots Langley Photographer

I wanted to get this post up mid week, however life got in the way a bit! You see I have been running a lot more than normal. So, regular blogging goes by the wayside! My bad!
Please meet my wonderful, beautiful and talented friend Wendy Russell. She is the super fun, super fab, tv host of She’s Crafty.
Style Cat Wendy Russell is also a wardrobe and interior stylist, home stager and organizer. We go way back (Hey W!!), back to our ’single digit days’ when we took a jazz dance class together. Her sister Toby also took the class, along with my sister. We also went to high school together, and have survived the busy years! We go WAY back, and I just love her dearly.
Wendy has always been crafty and full of talent. I call her my famous friend. She also acts, and also has her own awesome business called Style Cat Co. I am so proud of her, and all that she manages to do. She is beautiful friend, and I just wanted you all to get to know her a bit better. The world needs to know more about Wendy!
When Wendy called me up last week, and asked if I could shoot some headshots for an upcoming job for her, I was happy to help! It gave us a chance to hang out, laugh (like we always do when we are together) and spend some time catching up. Always a pleasure Wendy!
