Sneak Peek *V* | Cathy Empey Langley Boudoir Photographer
Posted on February 8, 2010
Hello Monday! After a bit of a break, over Christmas and prep work the last month. Finally, my first boudoir session of the year! I look forward to shooting these sessions! Kind of like waiting for Christmas morning, or a trip away.
So, up comes the drive is the ever so gorgeous V. With bright blue eyes, and this head of gorgeous red hair! (And a great smile!) I knew we would have fun together, and of course it was! And heck, the sun was even shining! The perfect day. Ahhh. Not bad for winter in beautiful British Columbia!
She came with her hair already done, and styled at the id salon in Fort Langley, and Scarlett of Beautilicious did her make up. Stunning! Thank you Scarlett!
So, those sneaks I was promising! I introduce to you V. (A mom of three, and choosing to do this boudoir session just for herself! I think you are amazing, inside and out!)
Enjoy!

Friday Five
Posted on February 6, 2010
Oh wow, here it is Friday, and I didn’t post a darn thing all week! It has been a week of recovery, and making changes. This weekend I have three different shoots, headshots for a magazine, a boudoir shoot and a maternity shoot. I am happy to get back shooting for me. I took the above photos in my front yard, and also took some photos of my two youngest girls. The object is actually a hood ornament off of an old car. I wish I knew what kind of car. Anyways, it sits on my family room shelf, and I just love it. It came from my Pappa (deceased) and I just have always loved it. Just like I loved him. I cannot believe he has been gone for almost 6 years. Oh how I miss him, but thankful that he was a part of my life for so very long.
FRIDAY FIVE
I am thankful my family is back to healthy this week.
I am thankful my foot is feeling better after taking that ‘little trip’ and rolling over on my foot.
I am looking forward to taking a group out for a run tonight!
I am extremely happy for the beautiful spring like weather we have been having! Amazing!
Thankful for yummy nachos last night. It is my once a week splurge!
Have a happy weekend everybody! And look for some sneak peeks on the blog soon.

Friday Five
Posted on January 29, 2010
I am actually thankful it is Friday. I would consider this to be a tough week. A tough couple of weeks. I LOVE my large family, but when a large family gets sick. WATCH out. Since right before Christmas, up until last night before bed. We have had non-stop sickness. (aka puke) happening. I felt sick on Christmas day, and thought I would be OK. I survived. Not so much, I got the flu as well this past week, and then last night my husband got it. It has been bad. Laundry has been running non-stop. I have been cleaning and cleaning. And well, I am tired. I *think* the sickness is gone now. I really hope so! I just want life to get back to normal.
So, my apologies for not answering emails, phone calls as quickly as usual. I am so sorry. Yesterday, I headed into Vancouver and went to a fabulous workshop held at the Blue Olive Photography studio in Vancouver. It was called “A Crash Course in Kicking A$%.’ It was a full day workshop. LOVED IT. The speaker?! A favourite of mine, the amazing OC photographer [ b ] ecker. You can read about my first meeting with him here. I just love how much he continues to share with the whole photography community. THANK YOU Becker!! I hope to meet up with you in California soon!
Photographers, if you want a great place to [ b ], join the [ b ] school! See you there! Thank you also to Tracey and Libby (Vancouver Photographers and Second Shooters Group) for bringing him here. It was so motivational, and now I am putting my plans into action! I could not be happier. Becker, I am going to make you proud.
I also took a little trip. And I don’t mean a good trip. I took a fall off of a curb yesterday, and I can hardly move my right foot. This means no running for me. I have been resting and icing all day.
FRIDAY FIVE
I am glad all of the sickness is *hopefully* leaving our home and our family!
I am thankful for the mild and beautiful weather we have had for this month (hardly any rain)
I am so glad I could run once this week
I really enjoyed meeting and networking with so many amazing Vancouver Photographers at the Becker workshop yesterday.
I am thankful for a pro-d day today with my kids. I missed them all yesterday!
Have a great weekend!

::Jenn & Matt::
Thank you SO much to all who shared their stories with me. It was a very difficult decision to just pick ONE couple for my couples casting call. But they both fit the bill!
I have all of the other couples who submitted their info in my folder, and may want to work with ALL of the couples in the future. (Starting to work on a little project I am VERY excited about!) I will keep in touch with you all!
Congratulations Jenn and Matt. I cannot WAIT to meet you both, and shoot your session! Thank you to S, for introducing you both to me.

P.S. Doesn’t Jenn look like Cindy Crawford?! I totally think so!!

The Help Haiti Blog Challenge
Posted on January 17, 2010
My friend Kelly has started a beautiful blog challenge to help the people of Haiti.
When I watched the devastation on the TV, I wanted to be able to help. So, thank you to her idea I have a way to help! And I hope that you can help too!
So, here is what I can do to help:
I will donate $200 dollars from my very next boudoir session that is booked to Faith and Love Children’s Ministry Society. As a Mom of six, to see those children, babies and families suffering, my heart cannot take it. If I could afford to adopt, I would certainly do that. My heart has room. My heart aches.
Love,
Cathy xo

It is always nice to be interviewed for shooting boudoir, but when the interview comes from another photographer (and especially by another boudoir photographer that I admire MUCHLY!) it is very heartwarming and surreal. So, thank you so much Marin for this complete honour. I especially love talking with and sharing with other boudoir photographers from around the world. I just love the power of twitter, and the internet! I think every woman needs to have a boudoir session! No matter where you are in the world!
Marin is an amazing photographer living in Northern Californina (I *heart* California!) So, I suggest you pop on over to her gorgeous blog/site and show her some love there!
You can follow Marin on twitter here:
I just want to say thank you so much Marin! Boudoir rocks, and so do you!
Thank you very much for the opportunity to talk about something I am VERY passionate about.
